When this generation first hit the roads it came in two trims, with a third one joining the lineup a year later. The trims at release are the Premium Luxury, and the Sport trims. The XT6 is offered in both six and seven seat configurations. If you opt for the 6-seat configuration, the second row will have access to captain’s chairs, helping your passengers remain comfortable.
While Cadillac was still trying to figure out what to do with the XT6, the crossover SUV was still worth owning. Although the 2020 model did offer an 8-inch screen that had phone connectivity, as well as a wireless charging pad, it was still not the XT6 of today.
In 2021, a new trim joined the lineup. This is the Luxury trim. Now acting as the new base trim, it also brought a new engine. While this model had the 2.0L I4, the other two models still carried the 3.6L V6 as the standard option.
The more efficient engine out of the two is the 2.0L I4. This has an EPA rating of 23 MPG, and can get 27 MPG on the highway with a FWD configuration. When you opt for an AWD configuration, you’ll retain the 23 combined MPG, but take a ding on the highway at 26 MPG.
The other engine that is on the other two trims is the 3.6L V6. This has an EPA rating of 21 MPG, getting 26 MPG on the highway, and much like the smaller engine, this one too takes a hit when in AWD.
2022 didn’t see much change for the XT6. The Sport trim came with Brembo brakes, with red calipers. The Platinum package also saw some change: Modena leather, rather than Turin leather.
2023 saw some comfort features added to the Premium Luxury and Sport trims. The features were heated rear seats, as well as heated and ventilated front seats. This helped make sure that when the temperatures start to get extreme, you’d remain comfortable.
For 2024, and 2025 the XT6 didn’t see much change, but with how trends have been going, GM has decided it was time to retire the line. Production for the XT6 will end in later 2025, leaving behind a brief, but solid legacy.
