When this generation hit the roads, it came with some features that even the modern generation enjoys. Being that this is a new generation too, you can still find great features on it.
Some features that you can find on all trims are start-stop system, passive entry, electronic parking brake, second-row HVAC, and even an umbrella storage in the front door panel. Depending on the trim, you can find either a 7-inch, or an 8-inch touchscreen, both coming with phone connectivity.
Some new safety features were also added. These were the surround-view camera, forward collision warning, low-speed automatic braking, and a rear seat alert system.
This generation came in 4 trims, the trims being the L, LS, LT, and Premier. While the 1.5L I4 that we mentioned was standard on all trims, the 2.0L I4, and the 1.6L turbo-diesel was available on the LT, and Premier trims.
The two optional engines were eventually dropped over time due to lack of popularity. The 1.6L turbo-diesel engine produced 136 horsepower and had great mileage– an EPA rating of 32 MPG combined, able to go 477 miles on one tank.
The 2.0L wasn’t nearly as efficient, having an EPA rating of 25 MPG combined. Going under 400 miles on one tank, getting 368 miles of total range. Making this the worst option to find on any trim for this generation.
For the 2022 models, the line saw a refresh. This came with some new exterior looks, as well as redesigned interior seats. All models now come with wireless phone connectivity. The trim lineup also saw some change. The L trim was dropped, and the RS was added.
This model only came with the 1.5L I4, as the 2.0L was discontinued. In 2023, the 1.5L was replaced with a slightly more efficient 1.5L, being the one that we have on the most recent generation.
This generation also came with some great cargo capacity, getting you 29.9 cu-ft of cargo space when all seats are in place. This makes it a great family vehicle for soccer moms who need room for the kids.
