While this generation was introduced in South Korea first, it came to the North American market in 2021, for the 2022 year model. When it did, it came with the 3.5L V6 engine. This engine can produce 290 horsepower, and has an EPA rating of 22 MPG combined. When on the American highways, you can look for 26 MPG, while in the city you’ll get 19 MPG.
The trims you can find are LX, LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. These models can be found in either 7 or 8 seat configurations. Most LX models you’ll find have 7 seat configurations, unless it is equipped with a seat package.
The EX, SX, and SX Prestige models come standard with the seat package, giving the Carnival 8 seats. While the SX Prestige has this package, it can also be found with VIP lounge seating. This comes with heated, and ventilated power seats for the second row, adding even more comfort.
For the 2023 model, you will find that the Carnival SX now comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment display, while the SX Prestige no longer comes with reclining captain’s chairs for the second row. This year also saw the removal of the LXS trim.
Much like the 2023 model, the 2024 model has some give and take to it. The EX trim can no longer be found with the auto up and down power windows, but can be equipped with a power rear liftgate.
While it will be harder to find a 2025 Carnival, the possibility is there so we’ll cover that too. This model comes with a new look, thanks to a refresh. This comes with a new grille, headlamps, taillamps, wheels, and lower body panels.
The interior sees a slight revision to the climate control panel, now being mounted on the dashboard, instead of the center console. A new lane centering feature is also available on this model, this helps the adaptive cruise control be even better.
When looking at the safety of the Carnival, the first two years were the best. When tested by the IIHS, the 2022, and 2023 models received Top Safety Pick ratings. The more recent models barely missed this mark, and while that doesn’t make them unsafe, you just need to go over what might be different so you know why.
