For 2026, the FX package is the visual highlight, and Ford limits it to GT Premium models only. The FX package is a throwback to the Fox-body era, and anyone who remembers the Mustangs of the ’80s and ’90s will recognize the inspiration immediately. Models equipped with the Performance Package ride on Oxford White fan-style wheels that echo the classic Cobra look, while the remaining FX versions come with white split five-spoke wheels. White grille nostrils, retro badges, and available white-out taillights help complete this old-school vibe.
Inside, FX models bring in plaid leather seat inserts stitched with silver and blue thread, with carbon-fiber trim sourced from the Dark Horse. Ford also added Adriatic Blue Metallic to the paint options and brought back Orange Fury, a color that last appeared in 2019.
There is a wide variety of Mustang trims that meet buyers at every budget for 2026:
The Mustang returns with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, delivering 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, and pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For those who want the classic V8 vibe, the 5.0-liter is still available, producing 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. (Buyers who add the performance exhaust will see that output increase to 486 horsepower.) A six-speed manual is available for drivers who prefer to shift themselves.
At the top of the lineup, the Dark Horse pushes the 5.0-liter to 500 ponies and includes upgraded dampers. Buyers who select the Handling Package will swap the standard tires for Pirelli Trofeo RS rubber, giving the car more grip for track use.
Mustang fuel economy shouldn’t change much from last year’s numbers— 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. V8-powered models won't fare as well, with estimates near 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
The Mustang keeps its dual-screen setup, pairing a 13.2-inch touchscreen with a digital gauge display. Both run Ford’s Sync 4 software, which includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless device charging as standard equipment. Features like Alexa voice control, Ford Streaming, and over-the-air updates are also part of the package.
