While the CT5 series was out for a few years before, the Blackwing was still in its hangar being manufactured. When it was time to unleash the Blackwing, it soared to heights never seen before with the Cadillac badge.
When it debuted, the CT5-V Blackwing came with a supercharged 6.2L V8 that made 668 horsepower, and 659 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this, the model can go 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. While most models will be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, with others having the optional 10-speed automatic.
In tests done by the experts at Car and Driver, they found that the Blackwing tops out at 205mph, making this a rocketship in disguise. Being that this engine is built for performance, the fuel economy could be better, but it isn't the worst. This engine comes with an EPA rating of 16MPG combined, making it less of a daily driver, and more of a track toy, but sometimes that's all you want.
At the end of the day, this is a Cadillac, so that means that the interior, as well as tech features are surely to be desired. When behind the wheel, you'll find that the Blackwing comes with genuine leather upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats and 18-way power adjustments. If you're lucky, you may be able to find a model that is equipped with the optional high-performance sport seats with leather and microfiber upholstery.
When not tearing up the track, the 10-inch touchscreen is definitely a nice addition. Coming with phone connectivity, as well as wireless phone charging, you won't have to worry about wires in your immediate area. This model also comes with the possibility of wifi hotspot, letting you remain connected, no matter where you are.
With the 2023 year models, some will celebrate Cadillac's 120th birthday. With only 120 being made, this is a grail for those who want something unique, while being part of America's legendary car history.
The 2024 models celebrate another birthday, this time, its own nameplate. The V Series turns 20, and to commemorate this, you'll find some standout colors. That's not where the changes stop, as this year also added the option for Super Cruise hands-free driving on models that are equipped with the 10-speed automatic.
With the 2025 year models, the Blackwing saw HUGE changes. While most other manufacturers are happy with a 10-inch screen, Cadillac wasn't. So, they added a massive 33-inch screen. While this may seem like it's too much, this is a Cadillac, and there is no such thing as too much when you see that badge. This year's model also saw the styling shift away from the CT5's styling. This is thanks to sharper angles, as well as air vents that are now adorning the exterior.
While there are changes in 2026, they are really only for personalized options, but if you're lucky, you may find some unique ones slowly hit the used market. No matter what, this model was in Car and Driver's Top 10 every year it has been on the road. This really highlights how dominant this model is on the market.
