This was the first subcompact crossover for the Cadillac brand, and with it came 3 trims. The trims are the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and the Sport. At release, the top two trims have the same price, but the Sport comes with sportier features. These features are an adaptive suspension, racier exterior, and interior.
Throughout the iterations of the XT4, there’s only been one engine for the line. This engine is the 2.0L I4, which is surprisingly fuel efficient. The EPA rated both the FWD, and AWD variants of the model. For the more efficient engine, you’d want the FWD configuration. Looking at both of them, the FWD configuration comes with 26 MPG combined, while the AWD configuration comes with 25 MPG combined. The FWD is a much better option for those who want the most out of their vehicle.
In 2020, the XT4 saw a few changes to make the line better. All trim levels came with automated emergency braking, forward collision warning, front pedestrian detection, and safety seat alert. If you find a Sport of Premium Luxury trim, you’ll be treated to a hands-free liftgate.
2021 was pretty light on new features, but there was still some for the line. The base level trim came with a new power rear liftgate, while the Sport trim now comes with red-painted brake calipers. 2022 saw no new features, besides the 2.0L I4 which made the XT4 just a bit more power at 237 horsepower, up from 235 from the previous years.
2023 saw even more safety features added to the lineup. Now on all trims, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert come standard, helping this be one of the safest vehicles on the market.
2024 saw a refresh to the lineup, and with it came some new features. These new features were a massive 33.0-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone connectivity, and even optional 13-speaker stereo systems. Other changes were to the look of the vehicle, taking styling cues from other vehicles in the Cadillac family.
For 2025, there wasn’t too much change. The Luxury trim was axed and the Active safety package is now standard on all trims. This comes with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a surround-view camera system.
